Balancing, Responsive Doubles

Balancing, Responsive Doubles

Hi Larry --Thanks for your feedback on the double of 4 question. Now, I have two more ambiguous bidding agreement questions:

1) Balancing after a 1-level opening is passed (1 P P 2), how do you prefer to play the cue-bid? * Michaels * strong offensive hand not willing to risk a double * any two-suited takeout * other

2) After they open a weak two, we double, and they raise (2 X 3 X), what is advancer's double: * responsive showing minors/majors, or * value-showing (could be short in the suits shown by a classic responsive double)? Thanks!

Eugene:

1) Michaels -- no strong feelings, but this has worked fine for me.

2) Cards. Usually not a singleton in their suit. Wide possibility of shapes -- usually not 4 in other major or you would bid it. Direct-seat doubler can leave it in with a doubleton in opps suit and flat hand.
